Imagine children from some of New Orleans’ poorest neighborhoods overcoming their fear of science as they learn physics, chemistry and biology through hands-on activities.  Imagine a free after-school science playground where kids can build battery-powered insects, create their own musical instruments and plant and maintain their own garden.  This dream is becoming a reality at My House, Inc., New Orleans’ only site for the Community Science Workshop.  Filled with science, technology and art, the Community Science Workshop offers young people alternatives to gangs, drugs, violence and boredom in neighborhoods where there are few other positive opportunities.

My House Center for Learning is undergoing a complete renovation resulting from Hurricane Katrina and the floods that followed. We are excited about our new facility and its grand re-opening in 2008.  Please come visit us at our current satellite site at First Evangelist Baptist Church, located at 1801 Willow Street, New Orleans.  We are delighted that they have opened their doors to My House after-school and summer program.  For current updates on the reconstruction and re-opening, please see: http://www.myhouseinc.org/My_House/Welcome_to_MyHouse.html
